Biography

Mary Lee[1][2][3] was born in 1626, in Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

Mary Lee married John Howland on October 26, 1651, in Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts[4][5][1] An annotation by Robert Bowman in his compilation of Barnstable Vital Records identified the parties to this marriage as Mary Lee, son of Robert, and John Howland, elder child of the Pilgrim.[6][3]

They had 10 children: Mary, Elizabeth, Isaac, Hannah, Mercy, Lydia, Experience, Anne, Shubael, and John. [3]

Mary died after May 22, 1693 (date John and Mary delivered deed to Justice of Peace William Bradford), in Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

As of 10/26/2018 Mary Lee Howland does not fit into the Mayflower Project. Passengers, Spouses of Passengers, and those direct descendants born before 1700 - are Mayflower Project.
I am concerned about the ancestry given for Mary Lee. A string of poorly-sourced profiles traces her ancestry through the Atwood family to the ancient Grenville family, descended from Magna Carta barons. However, no Lees or Atwoods have been recognized as Magna Carta gateway ancestors, which makes me want to double-check Mary Lee's lineage carefully. In addition, Mary's paternal grandmother, currently given as Elizabeth Fletcher, shows a poorly-sourced ancient noble ancestry. Is there any documentation for this?
