I've been researching my paternal family line, on and off, for many years.

I'm particularly interested in the military history of my family.

I would love to connect with any long, and not so long, lost ancestors and relatives.

My family seem to originate mainly from Berkshire and Buckinghamshire area of the UK, moving to the Middlesex area in the late 1800s

Hi Keith,

This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far?

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.

I'm here to answer those questions or help with issues about how WikiTree works. You can reply to this comment or send me a private message.

Hi Keith. I am a Lee descendant but have had trouble getting past my great grandfather. I'm wondering if you have a Henry Arthur Lee who married an Elizabeth Rose in your tree. These were the names of his parents on the marriage cert of my Great grandfather also named Henry Arthur Lee born about 1857-1860. I do not have a birthdate or birth place for him, only his marriage certificate.

Thanks Jen

Hi Jen, I'm afraid I don't have a Henry in my line at all, other than one James Henry, although he was born in 1898.

Do you know what area of the UK they were from, as there seem to be particular pockets of Lees in the country. It's also a high ranking Romani gypsy surname, in case you didn't know.

Let me know if you can nail down a part of the country and I'll see what else I can find.

Cheers,

Keith

Hi again,

Sorry but no I haven't a clue as where my Henry Arthur Lee was born. His son Henry Arthur born 1856-60 said that he was born in Newcastle NSW but there are no records in Australia to prove this. Guess this family will remain my brick wall. Thanks for looking. Jen

Hi

May i suggest amending your tags so you have one tag for each name you are researching and the location

If you create separate tags for your surnames, the tags become clickable links to pages of others who want to collaborate about that surname. With the surnames combined in a tag, that isn't possible. This link may help you Tags

Your Wiki Genealogy Feed will show the activity connected to the surnames and places relating to your tags.

Thanks John.

I'm just getting to grips with the software, but do appreciate the guidance.

I would suggest you enter each surname as a tag, just as you have done with the surname Lee. Please, also add the location under the tagged surnames. Once you are done with it, I will be happy to get you confirmed as a new volunteer and fellow member of our wonderful FREE program.

Thanks again John. I think I've pretty much done for now, as I'm only focusing on the Lee surname at the moment, as it's quite a task, as it was so common in the area my family originates.

Let me know if there's anything more I need to do - as I say, I'm just trying to get a handle on the website

Kind regards,

Keith
