Biography

Cross of St George
Henry Lee was born in England.

Son to Robert Lee.

From an unknown source:

Henry Lee was born circa 1578 at of Hatfield, Buckinghamshire, England.1 He married Elizabeth Fletcher, daughter of William Fletcher and Elizabeth Wentworth, circa 1602 at Hatfield, Buckinghamshire, England.1 Henry Lee died on 24 July 1647 at Hatfield, Buckinghamshire, England.1

But the places are wrong (Hatfield is in Yorkshire) and the estimated dates need revision, given that the marriage appears to be recorded at Campsall, Yorkshire (the bride's parish) in 1584.

Hi Danielle, I've replaced the England Project Box with the England Sticker, as the project boxes are only for profiles managed by the England Project now. Regards

http://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1558-1603/member/lee-robert-1533-98 says Sir Robert's only child by Jane Restwold was a daughter who had no children and that he also had one illegitimate son (this Henry Lee?). It seems Henry was not Jane Restwold's son.

Is Henry really the son of Jane Restwold?

I found this paragraph in Wikipedia: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Lee ) None of Sir Anthony Lee's four legitimate sons left legitimate issue, and the heir at law of his eldest son, Sir Henry Lee, was thus Henry Lee (d. 9 October 1657) of Kildare, son of Sir Henry's Lee's half-cousin, Captain Thomas Lee, '........ However Sir Henry Lee contrived to leave his estates, not to his heir at law, but to a nephew described thus by George Blundell in a letter to Sir Ralph Winwood on 19 February 1611: Sir Henry Lee is dead, and hath left Sir Robert Lee's son of the Forest, with one eye, his heir,)

He must have been born outside of marriage, otherwise Henry (Waring) Lee would have been a legitimate heir.

History of Parliament [1] gives Jane Restwold as only having one daughter by Robert Lee and no sons. Robert is credited with at least one illegitimate son. Are there any sources available for Henry Lee?

Lee-44 and Lee-2508 appear to represent the same person because: DoB is an estimate - DoD is the same - as is name of spouse.
