Biography

Tradition relates that John Lee of Lee Hall Nottingham, England, the third Earl of Litchfield had one son, Robert. Robert Lee had one son, William, who fled to the colonies to avoid religious persecution. William and Mary (MARVIN) LEE had Thomas, who was a farmer near Hempstead. He was never married. After the death of his brother Joseph, who married Abigail PRICE, of Hempstead, and died in middle age, he reared the children and became well to do. John and Robert, sons of William, served in the Colonial wars with the French, and both died of fever soon after their return home at Hempstead. William had also six daughters, of whom no records are found.
