Biography

Josiah was born in 1834. Josiah Lee ... He passed away in 1910. [1]

Josiah Lee was born in Indiana, moved with parents to Marion County, Illinois in 1846at the age of 12. • He went west by ox team and covered wagon in 1852. It is thought he was a scout for the wagon train or drove a team of oxen. He lived in Vancouver, Washington upon arrival in the west. It is known that he was a scout for the Army and worked out of Vancouver Barracks.

Sometime after arriving in Vancouver he married Canie West and they had two children. It is not known what .happened to her or Barbara. Aaron, grandson of Josiah, spoke of his Aunt Nean several times. She was his favorite aunt.

At age 30 on 03-11-1864 he married Ellen Maria Mathews. Ellen Marie was born in Iowa. Together: they had ten (10) children. They were living in Vancouver at the time of the marriage
