Biography

Isaac Lee may have been born either in Connecticut or New Hampshire; no certain birth record has yet been found (Feb. 2019), but he is thought to have been a son of Joseph Lee and his wife (believed to have been Susanna (Brewster) Lee). A birth year of 1779 (with a death in 1840) appears in online genealogies, but without source.

An addition to a probate record is virtually the only known online reference to his existence, placing him in Grafton County, New Hampshire, in 1840, and noting that he is not named in his father's will -- but not naming that father^[1]. It is possible that he was the son of another member of the Lee family rather than of Joseph and Susanna.

An Isaac Lee born in New Hampshire, aged 30-40, appears in the Massachusetts State Census of 1855 at South Danvers; if born in 1815, this would still make him ten years younger than the last known recorded child of Joseph and Susanna.
