Joseph was born in 1852,[1] the son of James and Mary (nee Guerin) Lees. A matching entry in the Victorian Historic Birth Index has not been found.
He married Catherine (known as Kate) Ring in 1885,[2] at St. Paul's Church, Melbourne.[3][4] The bride was the daughter of Charles Ring, who had been sent as a convict to Tasmania in 1830.
He died in 1928,[5] at McKinnon Road, Bentleigh.[6][7]
He was buried on 30 Jul 1928 in the Brighton General Cemetery.[7]
