Second child and first son of Robert LEES and Isabella FRATER, Thomas was born in 1883 in Morebattle, Roxburgh, Scotland.[1]
In 1891 he was a seven-year old scholar, living with his parents and siblings in Morebattle village where his father was a Master Saddler.[2] In 1901 he was a saddler's apprentice, aged 17.[3]
Thomas migrated to Canada about 1906 with his brother James Frater LEES and sister Mary Hall LEES..
