Biography

John Leeves
John was born about 1870, also called "John of Cranbrook."

Birth Abt 1750 Heathfield, Sussex
Also found Birth Cranford, England
Death Apr 1800 Heathfield, Susse
Also found Died November 18, 1811 in Heathfield, Susse

Update 7th August 2020 by Carol Burman. No evidence of birth at Heathfield, Sussex. Marriage banns were read at St Dunstan, Cranbrook, Kent and All Saints, Heathfield, Sussex. This strongly suggests that John Leeves originated from Cranbrook, Kent.[1][2]

He was buried on 18th November 1811 at All Saints, Heathfield, East Sussex, so could not have died on that date.[3] The burial record states he was a 'lunatic'.

His Will written on 17th June 1811 and Probate dated 23rd December 1811 gives an occupation of a gingerbread maker.[1]

It is highly unlikely that his father was George Robert Leeves and there is no evidence of a birth date of 26th August 1750.
