Biography

OBITUARY: Doris Ruth Lehmann, 71, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas at Spring Branch Healthcare Center on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, which was her father's birthday.

Doris was born to Martin Herbert and Ruth Esther Schmidt Lehmann on Monday, July 31, 1939 in Winchester, Texas. She was baptized at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Winchester. Doris was confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas, in 1954. She attended St. Mark Lutheran School for the Eighth Grade. She attended Lutheran High in Houston, graduating in 1958. She also attended the University of Houston.

Growing up, Doris loved to read and go to family gatherings. A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Doris worked for South Main State Bank for 10 years and then in the audit department for Foley's. For the past 25 years, Doris suffered from Parkinson's Disease. Her home was Spring Branch Healthcare Center for over 19 years.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, George Tennison, Jr. and Billy Joe Griffin. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Beth Griffin, Carolyn and husband Wayne Tennison, Eunice and husband Fred Witt and Darleen Tennison; brother, Harold Lehmann and wife Addie; nieces, Jeanette Griffin and Karen Witt; nephews, George Tennison, III, David Tennison and Edward Witt; great nephews, Benjamin, Timothy and Cade Witt; great niece, Emma Witt and by numerous other relatives, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Friday, March 11th from five until eight o'clock in the evening at Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston. The family will again gather with friends to celebrate Doris' life at a service on Saturday, March 12th beginning at eleven o'clock in the morning at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave. with The Reverend David Leeland officiating. Immediately following the service, a brief reception will be held at the church followed by graveside services at two o'clock in the afternoon at Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway in Houston, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Durow, Fred, James and Todd Lehmann, Jack Montgomery, Edwin Jr., David and Robert Schmidt. Honorary Pallbearers are George T. Tennison, III, David M. Tennison Edward Witt, Weldon and Kenneth Mersiovsky.
