Biography

Anna Sabina was born in 1717 in Germany. She was the daughter of Hans George and Catharine (?) Leibesperger. She married Johannes Hess in Berks County, Pennsylvania, in January 1739/40.[1] She died in 1773 in Berks Co., PA.

ANNA SABINA LEIBESPERGER (2), (John George 1) b. April 1717, m. Jan. 1740, John Hess, b. May 1717. (6 children). The complete record of Anna Sabina and her children is shown in the first Church Book of Records of the Oley Hill Ch. (1741-1800) part II, page 31, and is number five of the ten families therein recorded. The English translation is as follows- 5. John Hess, b. May 1717. Father: Thomas Hess, from the Hanan district from the Honneberg. Mother: Margaret. He came to America with his father and mother, in 1730. In January 1740, he married Anna Sabina, b. April 1717. Father: John George Leibesperger, from Ilshofen in Wuerttemberg. Mother: Catharine. They came to America in 1732.
Their children were (3rd generation)
  1. Elizabeth, b. 1741, d. 1743, almost 2 years old.
  2. Henry, b. Feb. 1742, d. 1746.#
  3. Margaret, b. Feb. 1, 1745.
  4. John, b. Feb. 1747, d. y2 year old.
  5. Catharine, b. May 7, 1750.
  6. Anna Sabina, b. Feb. 8, 1753.
As some of these children died young, it is believed that they were buried at the Oley Hill Ch., but no marked graves can be found for them. Probably no cemetery had been laid out then. The other three may have survived and been married, but I can only find one record of the youngest daughter, Anna Sabina, “from the record of the Rev. Daniel Schumacher.” It was on March 12, 1769, that John Daniel, son of George Adam and Catharina Barbara Leibelsperger, was baptized at the Ziegel Ch. and John Daniel Stammbach and Anna Sabina Hess, single, were the sponsors.
