Biography

Walton was born in 1871 in Peterborough, Ontario, son of Matilda Bist and William Leigh. Peterborough is a town on the Otonabee River in Ontario, about 130 km east of Toronto. [1]

Walton's mother died in 1875 when he was only 4 years old. His father remarried the following year.

Walton's father died in 1877, when Walton was just 6.

Fortunately, his step-mother Elizabeth, raised the boys.

In 1881, Walton was living in the township of Thorah, an island in Lake Simcoe, Ontario, 100km north of Toronto. [2]

At age 19, in 1891, his occupation was printer and he was living with his step-mother Elizabeth and his brother Montague, in Lindsay, 100km north-east of Toronto. [3]

In 1901, Walton married Edith Lenora Maunder. Their daughter Bessie Maunder Leigh was born just prior.

Walton passed away in 1905 age 34 when he sustained an accidental gun shot and developed enteritis due to his injuries. [4]
