Biography

Marie Marguerite was born on 23 November 1791 in Trois-Rivières to Louis Lemire and Angelique Michelin. She was baptized the same day in Immaculée-Conception and her godparents were Jean Sult dit Alboncoeur and Josephte Lamotte.[1]

On the 9th of February, 1819, at the church Immaculée-Conception, in Trois-Rivières, Louis Servant, widower of the late Julie Bélanger, married Marie Marguerite Lémire, daughter of Louise Lémire, journalier (day labourer) and the late Angélique Michelin. Present at the wedding were Joseph Auyer, Jean Bapatiste Boisvert, Louis Lémire, Charles Mose, and Antoine Gaullier.[2]

Marguerite, age 53, passed away on 10 October 1844 in la ville de Québec, survived by her husband, Louis Servant. She was buried two days later, on 12 October 1844 in the parish cemetery of Saint-Roch-de-Québec. Present at the burial were Joseph Fortier and Louis Giroux.[3]

Research Notes

As of 9 November 2021, PRDH seems to have conflated the Marie Marguerites in the family of Louis Lemire. There was one born to his first wife, Angelique Michelin in 1791, who is the subject of this profile. They have ascribed an early death to her of 1793-01-10 which is more likely that of her sister Marie Louise (especially since the church register names the deceased as Louise Lemire !)

The second Marie Marguerite is currently listed as also being from the same first marriage - born 1800-06-30 - yet Angelique passed away in 1798 - so - that's not really very likely. Considering that Louis remarried in 1799, much more likely that the mother of Marie Marguerite # 2 is indeed the second wife, Marie Marguerite Pressé.

Because of the mixup of an early death for MM#1, the PRDH attached the marriage of Louis Servant to MM#2, again, despite the church register indicating explicitly that she was the daughter of the late Angelique.
