Hi John

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 225 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Glad you are back!!

You may want to add some tags on your page indicating a family name for one tag and a specific location like (country) or ( state) for another tag and then add other surnames or locations as tags as desired. That way you will be connected to others with the same interest.

Click on http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following to add or remove tags. Be sure to add comments explaining why you're following the tags. Those appear on your profile too.

PS: Here are our WikiTree projects you might like to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects .

Hi John,

Added you to my trusted list. Peter LEMLEY 1770-1850 is my maternal 4th great granduncle.

Using your info, I calculate that you and I are 5th cousins, once removed.

I have did the Family Finder Test at FTDNA.com, and have found several LEMLEY matches. Also recently did Ancestry.com DNA, but have not received my results yet.

p.s. Your kind of research is just the kind of healthy input WikiTree needs! I'm not a WikiTree mentor, because more often than not I need a mentor for genealogy-related questions (and categories). But I have been a member for a while & went through the learning curve of how to get my info displayed in WikiTree as I wanted & collaborate with new-found cousins, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have in that regard. My best advice is to dive right in - for the most part, WikiTree's fairly intuitive.

Cheers, Liz

Welcome John!

I am SO glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, click my name and check out the "Greeter" section-especially the Sources links and the link to my fellow greeter Debby, who has helpful information on her profile page also.

If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help or How to Use WikiTree, you can post to G2G or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree! Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

I have accumulated a file cabinet full of family records, having done most of my research in court houses, libraries, newspaper offices, etc. before the days of computers. Over 60 surnames have been identified - many already in America in the 1600s. Most recently family to immigrate was in 1866. Am happy to share what I have. Thanks for your patience guiding me into the computer age.

Hi again John

I see you uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a WikiTree project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? You will find it and WikiTree's other interesting projects by using the FIND link top right of most WikiTree pages, select PROJECTS from the drop down box. WikiTree's DNA project has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

You might also like to read the discussions tagged with DNA in the G2G forum.

Happy WikiTreeing
