James A. Lenihan married Catherine Moore in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Aug. 23, 1913. His father's name was Joseph and his mother's name was Rosanna. Catherine's father was Frederick and her mother was Catherine. Their son was Frederick Richard Lenihan who was born June 4, 1918. They also had a daughter Doris Lenihan born 24 May 1919.
