  • OBITUARY

The late James Alfred Lennard, whose death occurred at his home in High-street, Branxton, on November 8, was born at Inverell in I880, and lived a good many years in that district, where he worked in the timber industry with his father. He was of a retiring but lovable disposition, and the esteem in which he was held was shown by the many friends who paid their last respects at the graveside. After his father's death, deceased spent some time in Queensland, where he took a very active part in athletic sports, and was a general favourite amongst the sporting public. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Cessnock cemetery, Rev. Booth Hodgetts officiating at the graveside. A service was also held in the C. of E. Church at Branxton prior to the cortege moving off for the cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. The chief mourners were his loving Wife, two daughters, seven sons, three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, nine grandchildren, sister, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. The pall-bearers were his six sons, James, Clifford, Cecil, Claude, Gordon, and Archie. Floral tributes were received from: His loving wife and family, Branxton; Mrs. M. Lennard and family, of Cessnock; Mr. and Mrs. Jones, mother and father-in-law, Branxton; Mr. and Mrs. R.
