What is the source for Martha's death? Right now it is the same as her husband, but my interpretation of the accounts is that she survived him. Find a Grave lists her death date as 29 Sep 1704, but this also has no source.
Martha Leonard was heroic woman. Her family home was burned by Indians in the 1677 raid of Hatfield. The Indians especially hated their family because her husband Benjamin had fought against them in recent Indian wars. Martha, and three children, Mary, Martha, and Sarah, aged six, four, and two were captured and forced to walk the approximately 300 mile journey to Canada. Some other captives in their party died but Martha not only got her young daughters there, but made the ordeal while pregnant.
Her new daughter was named Canada. They were rescued by her husband Benjamin, after paying a ransom and returned to Hatfield.
