Mercy "Marcy" Leonard (Leonardson) was born about 1678 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, she died 24 December 1749, Preston, New London, Connecticut. She is the daughter of Samuel Leonard and Abigail Atwood.
Mercy married Richard Adams about 1704.

Niemann, "The Possible Parentage of James Adams (1668-1741) of Westerly, RI", The Connecticut Nutmegger Volume 25, pages 573-575 (March 1993): states that by his matching up of relationships with the records of Concord, Massachusetts it became apparent that James Adams of Wells was the son of William and Elizabeth Adams of Sudbury and Concord, Massachusetts, and the brother of Richard Adams, born 22 August 1678 who married Mercy Leonard. Hereinafter cited as "James Adams (1668-1741) of Westerly, RI."
