Biography

Abraham was born in 1774 a twin to Jacob. Abraham Lepard ... He passed away in 1852.

Note:
  • Abraham is not with his parents and siblings on the 1800 Pennsylvania Census.
  • On Apr. 7, 1801, Abraham Lepard, late of New York State, made a land petition in Canada. He was recommended for the standard 200 acres. He does not mention a wife or children in his petition - is he married yet?
  • His father did not petition for land until November 1802 - so possibly Abraham informed his family in Pennsylvania of the free land available.
During the War of 1812, Private Jacob Lepard/Leopard served as a private in the 1st York Militia with Jacob, John, and Peter Lepard. From Oct. 18 to 31, 1812, he served in Captain John Arnold’s Company.[1]
  • From Sept. 25 to Oct. 3, 1813, he served in Capt. Thomas Selby’s Co. [2]
  • From Nov. 9 to 24, 1813, he served in Capt. James Mustard’s Co. at York.[3]
  • From Dec. 4 to 14, 1813, he served in Ensign Arad Smalley’s Detachment at York.[4]
  • From July 8 to 24, 1814, he deserted from Capt. Reuben Richardson’s Company. [5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:
