Hello, fifth cousin. I noticed your Mary Golson and wondered if she might be a merge with a Mary Golson of mine. I'll try to pull the book out that I got her name from. Thought you might have more information before I get around to that.

Hi Leslie,

I'm a descendant of Sgt John Lewis Golson and Elizabeth Miller. You have him in your tree as John Lewis Golson Jr.

We have y-DNA and atDNA evidence that Sgt Golson is the son on Major Lewis Golson and Elizabeth Stehely.

The y-DNA evidence also proved that Major Golson is not the son of William Gholson and Susannah Collins.

Here is a link to the y-DNA portion of the project: www.familytreedna.com/groups/golson-gholson-gholston

Please check out the news area.

Additionally, we have found Major Golson's initial land grand in Orangeburg, SC - given to him shortly after his immigration arrival via Holland. The land grant was provided in 1751 and sold in 1773. It proves that there was no John in Major Golson's name, hence John Lewis can not be a "Jr." Cheers Richard

Hi!

How are you? I'm Shirley, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Do you have Royal Ancestors? Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Shirley ~ WikiTree Mentor

Linda, you are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions.

Thanks for volunteering and welcome to the Tree!
