Biography

George was born about 1550, the son of William Leslie, 4th of Wardis, and Janet Innes. He married Marjory, daughter of John Leslie of Kincraigie and Marjory Strachan of Tipperty and they had two sons, John, Bishop of Clogher, and William, and two daughters, Janet (or Margaret) who married firstly Norman Leslie and secondly, Alexander Harvie, and Grissel who married Blackhall of that ilk.

George bought the lands of Crichie in 1607 from William Leslie, son of Alexander Leslie, 2nd Laird of Crichie. The estates of Crichie had been held in 1609 by George Leslie, a younger brother of the Wardes house - in succession to his brother William.[1]
