Archibald Alexander Leslie Melville, was born on 6 August 1890 the son of Ronald Ruthven Leslie Melville, Earl of Leven and Hon. Emma Selina Portman.[1]
He inherited the titles at the death of his brother David, in 1913, succeeding to the titles on 11 June 1913.
He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet Colonel in the service of the Lovat Scouts (his father's Regiment). He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.)
He died on 15 January 1947 at age 56.
He married Lady Rosamond Sylvia Diana Mary Foljambe, daughter of Cecil George Saville Foljambe, 1st Earl of Liverpool and Susan Louisa Cavendish, on 3 September 1918. They had children:
