JOHN LESSO formerly of Johnson CityJohn Leeso, 90, formerly of Baldwin St., Johnson City, died Friday evening, February 23, 2001 at the Apple Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ayer, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, June M (Talcott) Lesso; three sons, Alan W. Lesso, Glendale, Pa, Ray J. Lesso, Dubar, Scotland, Daniel A. Lesso, Glenrock, NJ; two daughters, Jean F. Carrington, Ayer, Ma., JoAnne M. Buckler, Pembroke, Ma; a brother, Nicholas Lesso, Westmont, NJ; five sister, Helen Hammer and Pauline Butchko, both of Binghamton, N.Y., Elizabeth Goldsmith, Olney, Ill., Margaret Mocho, Albuquerque, N.Mex., Irene Lyons, Norbeck, Md. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Lesso was born November 1, 1911 in Scalp Level, Pa., one of 13 children born to George and Mary (Yuhasz) Lesso. He had resided with his daughter in Ayer for the past 20 years. Prior to moving here, he resided over 30 years in Johnson City, N.Y., he had grown up in Pennsylvania. He was a licensed master electrician in the state of New York, retiring in 1972. Prior to that, he worked for the Ansco Corporation in Binghamton now known as GAF Corp.; and for many years worked as a coal miner in Central City, Pa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ayer; he was a former member of the Lions Club, Johnson City, N.Y., the New York Archeological Society, New York, the New York Geological Society, and was active in the Johnson City Boy Scout Program. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Mary's Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the T.J. Anderson & Son funeral home, 46 Washington Street, Ayer. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Resident's Activity Fund, Apple Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 400 Groton Road, Ayer, Ma. 01432.
