"Obituary MR. S. T. LESTER One of the most impressive funeral services at Woodburn in recent vears, was a tribute yesterday to the late Mr. Sydney Thomas Lester, a well known resident, of Woodburn, and a prominent official of the Woodburn R.S.L. Mr. Lester died at Coraki on Friday. There were few available seats in the Woodburn Presbyterian Church when Rev. Charles Haxton, of Coraki, conducted a service. Mrs. Delves officiated at the organ. There was a large representation of returned soldiers from many parts of the Richmond River district. Returned soldiers formed guards of honour at the church and grave side. Mr. Lester was buried in the Woodburn Presbyterian cemetery. The casket was covered with the Union Jack. Mr. Lester was a returned soldier from World War II. Mr. Haxton spoke of the esteem in which Mr. Lester was held in the community. Pall-bearers at the church were six brothers-in-law, Messrs. R. Smith, K. Thomson, H. Edwards, H. White, K. Huxley and H. Williams, and, at the cemetery, six returned soldiers, Messrs. R. Patch, B. Hill, J. Ferguson, D. Carmichael, G. Miller and D. Munro. "Wreath bearers were Messrs. Norman and Laurie Schulstad, Pat Malone, Jack Selkirk, Wm. McKinnon, A. Strong and J. McLaurin (representing the management and staff of O. A. Schulstad, where Mr. Lester was employed), Reg Pursey, Wilf Clark, and J. Marquet. At the conclusion of the graveside service conducted by Mr. Haxton, Mr. F. G. Stoker representing the Sub District Council of the R.S.L., conducted the ' Diggers' service. Mr. T., Gilbert sounded the "Last Post." Will Riley and Son conducted the funeral arrangements."
