DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:

Lester-1368 and Lester-971 do not represent the same person because: After decades of researching my Lester family, I am well aware of the Groton, New London, Connecticut Lesters and have no issue with Lester-971 data, The listed death date of 1787 is correct for my ancestor, Thomas Lester, who died in the spring of that year, but I find no primary documented evidence that the Thomas who died in Pittsylvania had a familial connection with the Connecticut family. L-971's birth date of Mar 1, 1755, the son of Thomas and Mary Allyn Lester is also documented, but the Thomas Lester (L-1368), who died in Pittsylvania County, VA, assuming his birth date is correct would have been too young to father some of Pittsylvania Co.,, VA documented children this Thomas Lester (L-1368) and Sytha Lucas Lester. Other conflicting data: naming patterns of siblings and children are not similar. Neither of my two DNA tests (autosomal and yDNA) show any familial connections with the Connecticut area, but there may be no tests taken of this family's descendants. Thomas Lester, who died in 1787 had a documented brother named William, who lived and died in Fairfax Co., VA in 1776 (have copy of will). A T

Lester-1368 and Lester-971 do not represent the same person because: The Thomas Lester (971) was the son of Jonathon and Deborah Allyn Lester. He was born 1731 in Groton, New London, Connecticut but died 20 Jan. 1788. Married 28 Feb 1754 in Groton to Mary Allyn, dau. of Ebenezer and Mary Thurber Allyn. This Thomas is most likely in the cemetery where his wife is buried in the Starr Cemetery in Groton. Thomas Lester (1368) married Sytha Lucas (no proven date) and Samuel, their son, was born and married in Pittsylvania Co., VA. where this Thomas died in 1787. Have his estate inventory and records - land, taxes, census records along with their children's histories. I have records, sources to confirm the above. Also, as the 4th. g.grandson of this Thomas, my auDNA aligns with this Thomas; not the Connecticut Thomas Lester. Thus, I reject this match...
