Thomas Bridgeman Lethbridge was born on 28th October 1828 at Flushcombe, Prospect, New South Wales, Australia. He was the fourth son of Robert Lethbridge and Mary Cunningham.[1]
Thomas entered the Royal Navy in 1843. Promotions came in 1848 (Lieutenant), 1857 (Commander), 1863 (Captain), 30th December 1878 (Rear Admiral) and 27th March 1885 (Vice Admiral). He retired as an Honorary Admiral on 2nd August 1890. During his naval service he captained the Himalaya, Simoom, Trafalgar, Northumberland, Black Prince and Duncan. His illustrious career culminated as Commander-in-Chief, The Nore.[2]
He married Maria Servante in 1854 at Malta. They later had seven children.
He passed away, aged 64 years, on 30th December 1892 at Mayfair, Westminster, Middlesex, England.[3]
