Richard was born in 1794 at Ermington, Devon, England.
Richard arrived with his family on the ship Oriental in 1841 into New Plymouth they are listed as: Richard labourer 44, Louisa 40, George 20, Thomas 18, Richard 15, Mary 13, Emily 10 and Edith 2, incorrectly shown as Sethbridge [1].
Newspaper article about his death [2]. His residence is shown as Fulford Street, New Plymouth.
Married by banns, No 550 in book 16; St Andrew's Church by William Williams; witnesses Thos Yates, Thomas Yates Jnr, ? Toms, and James Boulter.
He passed away on 3 Jun 1873 in New Zealand aged 79 years [3]. His find a grave profile (although the actual grave is unfortunately lost) [4].

Lethbridge and various versions of the name were almost certainly from Devon. The dates back several centuries.
Richard Lethbridge was probably a baker and grocer Old Town St, Plymouth. This is as referenced Western Morning News 4 Aug 1939 - records that men clearing site for the new Plymouth Central Hall from the Ebenezer Methodist Church include trustees.
Sailed Oriental from Plymouth 22 June 1841, arrived Wellington 26 Oct, then new Plymouth 1 Nov 1841. Journeyed with wife and six children.
Established a home in NZ and farmed.
