Joseph E Letson Jr., 74, Halifax, died Thursday July 9, 1987 in Camp Hill Hospital (Halifax, Nova Scotia).
Born in Boston in 1912, he was the son of Joseph Letson and Annie Dolliver, Port Medway. He attended the universities of Michigan and Toronto before serving with the Royal Canadian Engineers in World War Two. Following the war he spent 38 years in the oil pipeline business in Columbia, Edmonton, Regina, Sarnia and Fort Atkinson, Wis.
He was a past member of Rotary Clubs in Regina, Sarnia and Fort Atkinson. He retired to Halifax in 1975 where he was active at the Cathedral Church of All Saints and the Laubach Literacy Council. He was a member of the Heritage Trust, the Royal Commonwealth Society, the United Services Institute and the Nova Scotia Historic Society.
He is survived by his wife, Louisa (Pearl); a sister Ann Drewes, Middleburg, Vt.; a brother F. Robert, Port Medway; several nieces and nephews.
The body has been cremated. Memorial service will be Saturday at All Saints Cathedral. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Port Medway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.[1]
