Biography

The son of Albert Leutner and Elizabeth (Conard) Leutner, Jacob Leutner was born in Washington, District of Columbia[citation needed] in 1875, residing there with his family.[1] His family later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where Jacob married Alice Adelaide Denton (1877-1958), the daughter of Basil Broome Denton and Susan Victoria Biscoe. Their children included:

  1. Mabel Victoria Leutner (1902-1988)
  2. Aileen D. Leutner (1908-1996)
  3. Alice Leutner (1909-)
  4. Alena Leutner (1914-)
  5. Alma Brittania Leutner (1914-1994)

They made their home in Baltimore where, in 1910, Jacob and his family lived in the home of his in-laws, while Jacob worked as an electric streetcar conductor.[2] Jacob registered for the World War I draft when he was 43, registering in Baltimore, Maryland on September 12, 1918.[3] He stated that he lived at 206 E. Montgomery Street in Baltimore and that he worked as a street car conductor for United Railway. Jacob was described as a tall man, 5'7", of medium build, with dark hair and brown eyes. He did not enlist.

Jacob and his family had established their own household by 1920, residing on E. Montgomery Street in Baltimore.[4][5] By 1940, Jacob has retired as a streetcar conductor and worked as a janitor at a local school.[6]

Jacob Leutner passed away at the age of 70.[7]
