Biography

  • Jacob married Martha Parsons November, 23rd, 1826.[1]
  • 1830 Census of Sebec, Maine[2] lists a household with Jacob, his wife and two daughters under 5.
  • The 1850 Census[3] lists Jacob as 54 years and Martha as 50. There are 10 children listed in the household: Joan is 22, Jerusha is 20, Betsey is 15, Martha is 10, Eliner (spelling?) is 13, John is 18, Stephen is 18, Jacob is 15, Moses is 12, and Leonard is 8.

Research Notes

When researching Jacob, his name might be spelled Levenseller or Levensailor.

  • A death certificate of daughter Jerusha McKusick from Apr 19, 1902 [5] lists Jacob and Martha as her mother. She died in Corinth, Maine and was born in Sebec, Maine. Mother, Martha, was born in Montville. Her husband was Zimri Mckusick. She died from Pneumonia at the age of 72. 1830 estimated birth year.
  • Death certificate of daughter Joann from August 30, 1858 in Atkinson, Maine. Died when 30. 1828 estimated birth year. Certificate does not list her as married.[6]
  • Death certificate of Mary E Bradshaw lists Jacob and Martha as the parents. She died 9/8/1904 and was married to J.F. Bradshaw. Lists Jacobs birthplace as Waldoborough, ME and Martha's birthplace as Freedom, Maine. This conflicts with other sources. She died of Valvular Disease of Heart. Birth year 1848. Died at 56 in Bradford, Maine.[7] I wonder if there is another Jacob and Martha marriage in the family causing confusion.
  • A marriage certificate for Mary E. Levenseller lists father as Jacob and mother as martha. Husband Jame's parents are James and Jerusha Bradshaw. [8]
  • Maine Cemetery Records[9] shows Jacob is buried in Tewksbury cemetery in Atkinson, Piscataquis, Maine. On this same record can be found: Martha (wife), Martha J (Daughter - 2/26/1862), Betsey (daugther - ? ), wife of Rev. George S...?, Joann (Daughter 8/30/1858) and Leonard H (4/8/1868)

Name Confusion

I believe this is not the same Jacob born to Christopher Levenzelner in Waldoboro, Lincoln, Maine on 9/8/1768.
