Their children were:

  1. Joseph Huberto Amedee Bujol
  2. Marie Angelina Bujol

This latest addition to the biography of Marie Francoise Leveque is very exciting to me. I have never known the family to be called anything other than Leveque. After having looked through many French Catholic documents, I realized that Leveque is the French name meaning 'the bishop.' When I saw Ovispo as a family name, I thought it was wrong. Yet all of the other information attributed to the record looked correct. Then it hit me that the name Ovispo must be the Spanish version of 'the bishop.' Sure enough, that was it. I never thought to look up information about the Leveque family by using a translated name.

So the names are different, but mostly it is a slight spelling change: Leveque becomes Ovispo, Berteau becomes Verto, Paul Prevost becomes Pablo Prevo, and Felicite Bujol becomes Felisa Viso. Felicite was an Acadian - possibly one of the last of my family to be born there before the Grand Derangement.

Thanks for adding this information to my ancestor's profile. BTW, my godmother has Maria Francisca Ovispo's wedding ring.

Van, thanks for the nice note, and I wish I could take the credit, but Karen Theriot Reader, Julie Marcoux and Jackie Girouard did all the work. I just made some minor formatting changes. Thanks for adding your explanation of the name, good to know!

Hi, I removed the Acadian sticker--she wasn't Acadian. I added her profile to the Louisiana Project.

Her 4th great-grandparents were my 8th, Acadians Pierre Guilbeau and Catherine Theriot. The placement of the sticker was wrong, but I think she qualifies for it.
