The Hochneukircher cigar manufacturer Salomon Falkenstein was married to Bertha Moses, presumably a daughter of the butcher Moses Levi in Hochneukirch-Otzenrath and the Helena born. Meyer.
In 1875 his son Viktor was born, who married Sofie Hähnlein from Schwäbisch Hall and became the father of Ruth and Ilse Berta. The co-owner of the cigar factory Gebrüder Falkenstein, who had also served as a soldier during the First World War, also sold Mazzen from Burgsteinfurt and was one of the co-founders of VfB Hochneukirch. In 1942, he and his wife were deported to Theresienstadt and later to Auschwitz, where they were murdered. Her daughter Ruth married in 1936 Wilhelm Diekhoff, with whom she wanted to flee to Honduras via France, after Wilhelm Diekhoff had been temporarily deported to Dachau in 1938. However, the couple was interned in 1940 in France in 1940 and survived in the French underground.
Solomon's daughter Leonore was born in 1878. In 1901 she married Victor Mozes from Arnhem. She and her family of four survived the German occupation in the Netherlands in a hiding place. Leonore died in 1981 in Amsterdam.
In 1881, Solomon's son Joseph, who married Goch-born Elli de Vries and became the father of Miriam Antoinette, was born. The co-owner of the cigar factory brothers Falkenstein belonged like his brother Viktor to the founding members of VfB Hochneukirch in 1908 and exercised until 1929 the office of first chairman. Before he could put his exit plans into action, he was deported to Theresienstadt and later to Auschwitz in 1942 and declared dead after the war. His wife was freed from Theresienstadt in 1945 and moved to her daughter, who emigrated to Palestine in 1937 with her husband Robert Marx.
Salomon's son Hermann was born in 1883 and served as a soldier in the First World War, like his brothers. The merchant lived in Recklinghausen, where he also belonged to the community board. In 1934 he moved with his wife Henni. Fuldauer from Dinslaken and the three children Hilde (born 1911), Liselotte (born 1914) and Rolf (born 1917) to Dortmund, in 1937 they fled to the Netherlands, from where Hermann Falkenstein and his wife were deported to Sobibor in 1943 and were murdered. His children were able to emigrate in time.
Salomon's daughter Hedwig was born in 1885. She emigrated to the Dutch city of Rotterdam, where she married Joseph Maarssen in 1921. In 1985 she died in Rotterdam.
Solomon's daughter Wilhelmina was born in 1888. In 1912, he married Leendert Boas from Tiel, Netherlands, and served as cantor in Goch, giving him two daughters, Netty and Lotte. Wilhelmina moved with her family to Arnhem in the Netherlands, survived the period of National Socialism and died in 1982 in Arnhem.
Solomon's son Carl was born in 1891 and served as a soldier during the First World War. In 1930 he married Lucie Falkenstein from Dresden. In 1938 he emigrated to Trinidad, followed in 1939 by his wife and four daughters, a son was born in Trinidad. After Carl Falkenstein's death in Trinidad in 1951, the family emigrated to the United States.
