Name: David Levin. [1] David Levin. aka David Levin. Found multiple versions of name. Using David Levin. Jews in Mecklenburg-Schwerin were mandated to select permanent family surnames in 1813. At the time, David was about eleven years old. His family apparently chose the surname Levy. Levin appears to have been a patronymic name.

Born 1802 Malchow, Germany. [1]

Died 3 JUN 1838. Malchow, Germany. [1]

Notes

Note N427From Anne Feder Lee: I originally had the surname as Levin. However, information from Karl-Heinz Oelke (letter and his 2nd book) indicate that the name is Levy. [from Anne F. Lee]

From Ken Elstein: Both names, Levin and Levy, do appear in the historical record.

There is a Mecklenburg 1819 Census record for a David Levin (born 1802) with his brother Meyer Levin (born 1799) and mother Levin (born 1767) living in Malchow. They are likely the same family.
