Mary was born in 1867[1] in Brackenholme, Yorkshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Mark Levitt and Margaret Wilson.[2][3]
In 1894 Mary married George Moore after banns were read in Eastrington, Yorkshire. George lived in Micklefield, Yorkshire, and Mary in Eastrington.[4][5] By 1901 the couple lived in Whixley, Yorkshire, where George was a farm hind (a foreman).[6] They had moved to Foggathorpe, Yorkshire, by 1911. George was an innkeeper.[7]
