Biography

Prior to my brother's death, he had purchased a number of compact discs containing genealogy information about the Britton/Brittain/Britten family in New York and New Jersey. This Hannah was a record that resulted from that research. The CDs are not in my possession so I have tried to document her from secondary online databases and welcome source suggestions to review. My poor sister-in-law agreed to look for the discs in hopes that I'll be able to glean information about the primary sources from them. Thus far, they have not been recovered.

Birth and Death

Both of the databases I've found with records for her have years of birth that conflict with each other and neither provides the day and month for her birthday. Hannah Lewis was born in 1714 according to one^[1]and 1718 according to the other.^[2] But my brother listed her date of birth as 1 Feb 1718 without citing his source.

Hannah was born to Jonathan Lewis and his wife Abigail in Huntington on Long Island in what is now New York state.^[3]

Hannah Lewis and Benjamin Britton wed during 1739.^[4] Children attributed to them, without citation, are:
