Susanna Lewis was born on 25 March 1761, probably in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. ^[1] Her parenst were Richard Lewis and Susanna Vanderberg. ^{[1] [2]}

She married Gilbert Livingston on 28 February 1779 in Troy, New York. ^{[1] [2]} They had the following children:
