In 1799, Jane Lewis Maxwell, with her six children, moved to Harrison county town of Milford,Va. Mrs Maxwell's means were very limited When she arrived with her little flock, she found shelter with the family of Colonel Lowther in an old cabin until another one could be built on the farm.It was here that she reared her family. One son, Lewis Maxwell became a Congressman. [1]
