Biography

Robert Lewis was born between October and December 1862 in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire to John Lewis and Harriett French^[1].

He was living in Alkerton, Eastington, Gloucestershire in 1871 as a scholar^[2] moving to Dyehouse Cott, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire by 1881 where he was an Ostler^[3].

He married Mary Maria Saunders between April and June 1886 in Wheatenhurst, Gloucestershire^[4] and was living with her and their first child Gertrude A Lewis in 1891 in Stanley Downton, Gloucestershire working as a general labourer^[5].

In 1901 he was living at High Street, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire with two more children, Eveline Mary Lewis and Reginald J Lewis^[6] and likely still living there in 1911^[7].

He died between July and September 1932 in Stroud, Gloucester^[8].
