Both birthdates are for real Gideons that were real people. One lived to be 8 years old and one became my ancestor. The one born in 1723, died 8 years later. This is documented in a quaker meeting log book, Goshen Monthly Meeting, Record of births 1705-1805. This Gideon was born to William Lewis and Mary Lowry who are also the wrong parents for our Gideon. So, wrong b-day, wrong parents.

Another also: the "BigY" DNA tests done by several of our male-in-line cousins point to a Lewis born in ~1730 according to a researcher who posts on FTDNA. This same branch differs from the Lewis family associated with Merriweather Lewis by about 3,000 years where both families come from, somewhere in Wales. So same family, just a 3ky gap between common ancestors.

Lewis-52776 and Lewis-25468 appear to represent the same person because: same dates/parents/wife - please merge. Thanks!

Lewis-52776 and Lewis-25468 do not represent the same person because: The Gideon Lewis born 1723 died at age of 8. He didn't live long enough to father any children

Also, book written by Michael Lewis, Pioneer Lewis Families indicates our Gideon was born in 1730. I've paid for research and they have not found our Lewis in Berks county or Goshen. The following resources have been searched: Ancestors by Michael Lewis, Lewis Family Records by John T. Lewis, The Lewis Family by McAllister and Tandy, Genealogy of the Family of Henry Lewis, Humphry Scarlet, and Edward George. Morris Lewis and his Descendants. There are more places to search, I just simply ran out of money. We know the Boone and Lewis families know each other in North Carolina. What I haven't found yet is where Gideon Lewis and family come from inbetween moving to N.C. and Wales. Perhaps his military records will reveal something?

neither Lewis-52776 nor Lewis-25468 show a birth year of 1723. They are attached to the same parents, have the same dates (1767-1860) and are attached as husband to duplicates of the same woman. I don't understand why you rejected the merge.

James Lewis and James George Lewis appear to have different mothers and different death dates. Until this is resolved, I'm very uncomfortable with calling them the same person. Do we have records from Platte City where both of them died?

Lewis-44216 and Lewis-25468 appear to represent the same person because: same person.

Lewis-25468 and Lewis-44216 do not represent the same person because: Unconfirmed james George Lewis with a different mother.

Probably same person, but james lewis with father of gideon lewis is YDNA verified. James George Lewis is not verified as being the husband of Ann Elizabeth Stewart. This needs to be corrected by the submitter.
