Biography

Harmon was born in 1822. He passed away in 1900.

Note: Note: Harmon Lewis is placed in the family by Henry P. Scalf, a grandson of Mahala Lewis Stratton in an article about Toney Lewis's Wall. He says that other siblings of Mahala included Squire, and Nellie Lewis who married a Hiteman Clark who died in a Union prison camp as a Confederate soldier. In my research I found an Elender Lewis daughter of Benjamin Lewis married to Hiram Clark who was a Confederate Soldier that died in a prison camp. Because Henry P. Scalf was slightly confused on famly relations, I retain a skepticism on the identity of Harmon's father. Indicatons, including census data point towards Thomas Lewis, the father of Squire and Mahala. However, it remains possible that Benjamin Lewis (son of John Lewis and cousin to Thomas) is Harmon's father. This relationship may ultimately be unprovable. However, because Thomas and Benjamin were most likely cousins, the ancestral information would be very similar.
