David Lewis was born in 1804, in Pennsylvania, United States. He 1st married and had at least five children, Anderson, Elizabeth, Mary A, John and Howard. He then married Sarah Ann Hardesty on 6 October 1843, in Franklin, Missouri, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons George, William F, Thomas, Joseph & Arthur and 3 daughters Martha E, Sarah C & Malinda. He lived in Jefferson Co, Missouri, United States in 1850 and them move to Texas c. 1856
