Enslavement - Before emancipation Florence lived on a plantation called The Greenville Place, in Sumter Co, AL. Her slave owner was Arthur M. Lewis. When Arthur Lewis died his property was inventoried. Florence was a year old when she was on the inventory list in 1861.[1]
Emancipation - Florence may have been listed on the 1866 census of the A. M. Lewis Est. in Sumter Co, AL.[2]
