Biography

Rex D. Lewis (Alpheus Jr.,Alpheus Sr., Benjamin, James, Tureman, Joel, David, John) was born in Moscow Fayette County TN in my grandparents house, He went to Moscow Elementary school and to Fayette County High School in Somerville TN. His primary interests during those years were hunting, fishing, horseback riding and swimming.

Rex then attended the Univ of TN at Martin (TN) in Eng. Physics and as an Engineering Co-op student for Combusting Engineering Company in Chattanooga TN. After graduating from UT in Knoxville His working carrier started in Birmingham AL in a Physics Group of Hays International Corporation; the work involved infrared countermeasures of jet aircraft.

After a year at Hays went to Huntsville AL to work at the Marshall Spaceflight Center Astrionics Laboratory for Brown Engineering Co.; work was test and analysis of materials for Laser development and communication applications.

Then He worked in Brown's Research Laboratory in laser instrumentation development, sales and service. Later at Brown the work was as a contractor to the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Agency on the development and testing of spacebased infrared sensors as a basis for the so called "Star Wars " program. Involvement in this program continued after transferring to McDonald Douglass Cooperation in Huntsville.

From McDonald Douglass he joined Nichols Research Cooperation with a part ownership to head up a group to continue supporting the BMD operation in Huntsville. My Group had people in Ann Arbor MI, Greenville TX, White Sands and Albuquerque NM.

Besides having a wife and raising two children outside activities were maintaining a small farming operation; competitive skeet shooting; playing golf and horseback riding.

After retirement he continued with his hobbies of skeet and golf; and got heavily involved in the local historical society's museum and publications; and in my family's genealogy.
