Biography

James Libby was born on 11 January 1779 in Limington, Maine. His parents were Philemon Libby and Martha (Small) Libby[1].

He married Emma Chase on 17 October 1804 in Limington[2]. They had fourteen children[3]:

1. Emma, born 15 Aug 1805; married Marshall Bacon
2. Ann (Nancy), born 5 Oct 1807; married 1st George Meserve, 2nd Henry Pendexter
3. Deborah C., born 22 Dec 1808; married Cyrus Meserve
4. Harriet, born 20 May 1809; married Josiah Bacon
5. James Elden, born 3 Oct 1811
6. Moses N., born 15 Jul 1812
7. Loraine A., born 13 Apr 1815
8. Amos, born 12 Mar 1817
9. Abner, born 7 Feb 1819
10. Oliver, born 22 Nov 1820
11. Dennis, born 28 Aug 1822
12. Lewis M., born 18 May 1824
13. Samuel, born 21 Aug 1826
14. Susan, born 2 Jun 1828

After Emma's death in 1828, James married Dolly (Brigham) Ball on 26 October 1829 in Bridgton. They had no children[4].

James passed away on 2 March 1868 in Bridgton, Maine[5] and is buried in High Street Cemetery[6].
