From her obituary:
Virginia Lichtenberger Morrison's life ebbed peacefully away in the presence of her sons and near relatives, at her home in Bradshaw [Nebraska] Saturday evening at 6:30 o'clock. She had been ill for some months. "She was the age of 78 years, 3 months, 20 days" [which verifies her birthdate of July 1836].
Virginia had lived in Bradshaw for 45 years, and did much in the upbuilding of the town, and uplifting of the social life. Her nickname in latter years "Grandma Morrison" always carried with it an influence for right ideals and right living. She was an honored member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bradshaw.
All the businesses in town were closed out of respect on the day of her funeral, which was held at the Christian Church; pastor W. A. Baldwin gave the sermon. She was preceded in death by her parents and five of their nine children. Three brothers and a sister were still living: Samuel R. Lichtenberger of Bradshaw; Alfred S. Lichtenberger and Edmund R. Lichtenberger both of Custer county, Nebraska; and Mary Lichtenberger Hogan of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Six of her sons were pallbearers: George, Lee, Alfred, Fred, Joe, and Sam. All of her children survived her save the baby girl, Anna, and the eldest son, Harry, who passed away at the age of twenty-four years.
