Solomon Lewis Licklider, the son of Conrad Leichleiter Sr and Anna M. (Froushour) Licklider, was christened in 1807 at St Peter's Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown, Jefferson County, Virginia. Solomon was the husband of three wives and the father of sixteen children.

His second marriage was on January 19, 1854, to Elizabeth Ramia Lucas, who was born in 1833 in Illinois. Their children, all at their farm at Jake Prairie (near Cuba, Missouri) are:
Elizabeth (Lucas) Licklider passed away April 18, 1880. On June 19, 1881, Solomon married Mary Elizabeth Hawkins. There were no recorded children to this marriage. Of course, Solomon was 74 years old when he married for the third time. There were no children from this union. Solomon passed away in 1887 and was buried in the Licklider Cemetery, at Jake Prairie. Licklider, being in sound mind do this day make my last it [item] to my Will My youngest daughter Sarah Olive Licklider have my residence and thirty five acres of land that adjoining my residence, belonging to me known as my home place in Crawford county, Mo and it is my will that John Bradshaw's wife, Mary Bradshaw, have forty acres of land layin [sic] East of the forty I sold to my son, Joseph Licklider, on what is known as the Big Spring hollow South of my residence. And it is my will that Wm H. Licklider and Gennette Mosher have all the balance of my land in Crawford county, Mo. It is my will that Sarah Olive Licklider have all my personal property. I appoint James C. Licklider as my Executor of this my last Will.
