Robert was born in the parish of Dunsyre in June 1702 and baptised on 7 June 1702, the son of Robert Liddell and Agnes Liddle . [1]
In the hearth tax rolls of 1691, a Robert Liddell of Anstown, Dunsyre Parish (possibly Robert’s father) was recorded as having one hearth. Hearth tax rolls listed the people who were liable for tax on hearths (including kilns) in Scotland in the 1690s. Heads of households of each building were liable for a tax of 14 shillings.
Robert married Christian Jackson in the parish of Walston on 10 December 1724.[2]
Walston was a parish dating back to at least medieval times. It consisted of the villages of Walston and Elsrickle and surrounding rural areas, and the population of the parish in 1766 was 479.
It is not known exactly when Robert passed away.
Children of Robert and Christian Jackson:
No record of Robert's death was found. Very few deaths were recorded in parish registers of the time in Scotland. No reference to him could be found after the birth of his son Robert in 1733.
