Our incredible wife, mother, and nana (Marvelyn Brooks, age 63) went to be with her heavenly Father on April 9, 2008, after a courageous 12-year battle with breast cancer.
She was preceded to Heaven by her parents, Ralph and Bethel Liebe.
She leaves behind her husband, Glen; her children, Randy, Kalyn, Darin, and Tonya; daughters-in-law Melodee and Shelly; sons-in-law Lonnie and Ben; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Brooke, Noah, Alyssa, Matthew, Lauren, Carson, Hailey and Anna; brothers Duane, Arvid and Larry; and a large, extended family and many friends. They love her and will miss her more than words could ever describe. She was an incredible person and made an impact on everyone she came in contact with. She was always kind, thoughtful, and giving. She was called "Supermom" by her children because she was tireless in doing everything she could to help her family and those around her. We felt her love constantly and her spirit and wonderful memories will always remain with us. While she was taken too soon, we feel we are the most blessed people on earth to have been part of her life and to have been loved by her. There are many things she enjoyed, but most of all she loved being a wife, mom, and nana! She made each of us feel secure and special. Not a day went by that one of us didn't call her with a need, and she was there to help and pray. She was more than a mom to her children, she was a best friend. We could list her many, many wonderful attributes but without a doubt the one thing she would most want to be remembered for would be for her unwavering faith in God. She loved the Lord with all her heart and while we will miss her immensely; we know she is now with Jesus and totally free from the cancer that took her body but not her indomitable spirit or her faith in God. She never complained, not once, despite many tough times during her fight with cancer. Through her faith in the Lord, she was the most positive person we know.
During three long stays at the hospital she impacted and touched everyone she came in contact with.
Marvelyn was born in Milbank, SD, and lived for 37 years in Sisseton, SD, where she raised her four children with her husband, Glen.
In 2001, she moved to Victoria, MN to fulfill her strong desire to be near her four children and their families who all reside in the Twin Cities.
We all look forward to the day we will be reunited with our wife, mom, nana, sister, and friend in heaven. It will be a glorious celebration, and one we long for. We will spend an eternity together where God will wipe away every tear. Our hope and faith in Him will always remain strong, as she was an example for us of how to live a life of faith, perseverance, love, selflessness and complete dedication to those you love. We love her with all our hearts.
Marvelyn's funeral was held in Sisseton, SD on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Sisseton Cemetery. In addition, a memorial service celebrating her life was held Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Eden Prairie Assembly of God Church in Eden Prairie, MN.
