Uncertain family

It is believed by some that she was a daughter of "Beverwyck pioneers" Jan and Maritie Lievers, though it is more likely that Lievers/Lievens was a patronymic and that they were siblings.

Biography

Annetje Lievens removed from Albany to New York City after her husband died and joined the Dutch Church there, September 4, 1691. Her will dated April 27, 1702 names son Levinus, daughter Gerritje Dryer, daughter Catherine, wife of Mattew Clarkson, daughter Maria, wife of John Van Cortlandt, daughter Margaretta, and granddaughter Margaret, wife of Robert Livingston, Jr.

Will

"In the name of God, Amen. Know all men by these presents that I, Anna Van Schayk, of New York widow, being distempered in body, but of sound mind, on this 27 day of April, 1702, make this my last will.

I leave to my son, Levinus Van Schayk, the Wey or Pasture, lying or being at Albany, next to Casper's orchard. All the rest of my estate I leave to my children and grand children hereinafter named, viz. Levinus, Geritye Droyer, Catharine, wife Matthew Clarkson, and Margaretta Van Schayk, and to my grand daughter Margaret, wife of Robert Livingston, Jr., and to the children of my daughter Anna Maria, wife of Johnes Van Cortlandt, my house and lands, to be divided equally, as my executors shall judge most effectual.

I make my children, Levinus Van Schayk, Matthew Clarkson, Robert Livingston, Jr., Geritye Droyer and Margaretta Van Schayk, executors.

Witnesses, Peter De Reiner, Richard Stokes, Wm. Sharpe."

Will dated April 27, 1702. Probated June 30, 1702, before Lord Cornbury. Printed in Abstract of Wills volume 25, pp. 348-49.
