Domenico lo Liggio is born around 1815 in Corleone, the son of Maestro Pasquale lo Liggio and Paola Bono.
In 1834, there is a courtyard named after Domenico's father, which appears before the Strada della Lombardia in the census. Domenico's father, Maestro Pasquale is 53 (b. 1781), Paola is 42 (b. 1792), and Domenico is the oldest child still living at home. He is 19 (b. 1815). His younger siblings are Serafina, 18, Maria, 16, Leoluca, 11, Lucia, 8, Marco, 5, and Giovanni, 2.[1]
Maestro Domenico marries Margherita Moscato, daughter of the late Domenico Moscato and the living Domenica Caruana, from Campofelice di Fitalia and a resident of Corleone, on 10 November 1844. His mother has died by this time.[2]
Domenico and Margherita have at least four children: Pasquale (c. 1845), Calogero (c. 1851), Paola (1853), and Giuseppa (1862).
Calogero is born around 1851, based on his reported age at immigration. By the same report, he is a miller by profession. Domenico is also a miller, based on Giuseppa's 1862 civil birth record.
Paola is born and baptized on 7 July 1853 in Corleone. Her godparents are Gaetano Ragusa and his wife, Anna Miranna.[3]
On 27 October 1862, Bernardo Crescimanni, the mayor of Corleone, receives word from Domenico Liggio, age 40 (b. 1822), a miller, that his wife, Margherita Moscato, age 36 (b. 1826), has given birth to a girl on 26 October 1862 in their home in via Candelora, in Corleone. (He has underreported both their ages.) She is baptized the next day and named Giuseppa. Witnesses are Stefano Scimonetto, 48 (b. 1814), and Giuseppe Armato, 42 (b. 1820), both villici.[4]
Maestro Pasquale marries Marianna Vutera on 30 April 1876 in Corleone.[5]
Calogero marries Giacinta Milone on 25 February 1878.[6]
Paola marries Bernardo Cardella on 2 February 1880 in Corleone.[7]
Giuseppa marries Nicolo' Saporito, a shoemaker, around February 1886 in Corleone.
